Today we celebrate the life of an African Child. While celebrating the
life of an African Child, I believe we have a collective responsibility
in eliminating harmful social and cultural practices affecting children
in our communities.
I want to ensure everyone that my
government will continue to prioritise the welfare of children in this
country . We will continue to implement the Safe Motherhood initiatives
as their outcomes have proved to be a success in promoting the safety
of mothers and children. We will continue to implement the Economic
Recovery Plans as the benefits are proving to reduce poverty at
household level especially when prices of essential things like fuel
have gone down.
I have also
felt motivated to accelerate the implementation of the Mudzi
Transformation Trust Initiative which is meant to bring the social and
economic benefits per family because this is another way of combating
poverty.
Let me also assure everyone that our government will
continue to implement projects that will address issues of hunger and
malnutrition and policies that will promote access to education for our
children. We have a zero tolerance stance with regards to harmful
practices on children ie child labour, child abuse and neglect because
the welfare of children in this country is our number one priority.
As a matter of priority, we will listen to everyone on how best we
can work together to make the lives of children better in this country
because we are a listening government and because we are very
passionate about children.
I take this opportunity to
profoundly thank everyone committed to uplift the lives of children in
this country. Your contribution is what brings joy to children, please
continue with this selfless spirit of doing the best for children.
In my view, a child is like a garden, when one takes care of the
garden it becomes glorified with beautiful flowers and landscapes
making the entire community proud. Therefore I urge all of us to do our
best, children are the future of this nation.
